EUGENE PATRICK MCCANN

 

EXPERIENCE:

Eugene Patrick McCann is a practicing trial attorney and energy business consultant, located in Lowell and Lawrence, Massachusetts. He is a partner of Manzi and McCann, Attorneys at Law and prefers criminal and civil trial practice, coupled with commercial and business law. From 1983 through 1987 he was a partner of Thomas C. Troy and Associates, PC of Boston and Troy, McCann and Bolton, PC of Boston, Reading and Wakefield, Massachusetts. From 1980 to early 1983 he operated as the Law Offices of Eugene Patrick McCann and Associates in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Mr. McCann’s experience includes hundreds of jury and non-jury trials in state and federal courts. The criminal cases range from serious misdemeanors to many first degree homicide and serious felonies. The scope of civil matters encompasses various types of personal injury and product liability cases to multi-million dollars business ventures.

Before establishing his law practice, Mr. McCann was a co-founder of Lawrence Hydro-Electric Associates, Essex Development Business Trust and an officer of the Essex Company of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Additionally, he was the co-founder, director and officer of J. Makowski Associates, Inc., of Boston, a multi-million dollar energy development and consulting firm. During his tenure with J.M.A.I., he was a founder, co-founder, officer and director of the following companies:

Honeoye Storage Corporation of New York, a multi-million dollar natural gas storage reservoir company with three major New York Utility Companies. Merrimack Valley Energy, Inc., of New Hampshire, a consortium of nine New England gas distribution companies for development of national energy projects. Founder of Northeast Gas Markets, Inc., a consortium of eighteen utility companies in New England, New York and New Jersey for development of gas supplies from Canada and Mexico. Co-founder and President of Storage Development Corporation of Kentucky, and co-founder of Boundry Gas, Inc., a Delaware Corporation, responsible for importation of natural gas from Canada. He was also a founder or co-founder of various other business entities related to natural gas and hydroelectric development in the northeastern United States and Canada.

 

Before forming J.M.A.I., Mr. McCann was Director of Marketing & Sales at Distrigas Corporation, a subsidiary of Cabot Corporation. While at Distrigas, he and his staff were successful in concluding sales contracts for (LNG) Liquified Natural Gas in New England, New York and New Jersey. He played a key role in developing energy supplies from Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Trinidad, Russia and the Far East. He also acted as safety officer for NFPA 59A Codes while at Distrigas Corp.

Prior to his work at Distrigas he was Assistant to the Vice President of American Business Associates (Putnam Family Holding). He established the LNG Corporation, a joint venture between ABA, Guy F. Atkinson Corporation of California and Walsh Construction Company of New York. While working for the Executive Vice President of Lowell Gas Company and Cape Cod Gas Company, Mr. McCann completed negotiations between Lowell Gas and Aero-Jet-General of California for a major LNG facility now operating in Massachusetts. Mr. McCann was involved with design, market research and construction of the world's first D.O.T. approved LNG trailer units, various "grassroot" total energy systems, large air-conditioning systems, propane air-peak shaving plants and natural gas fuel cell systems.

PATENTS & PUBLICATIONS:

Author or co-author of three patents for underground LNG storage systems; several publications on management studies, financial analysis, project financing, market planning and research, and hydrocarbon technical data, including LNG.
